STAC FAX Index #3302

(Applies to Stacker 2.0 & 3.0)
__________________________________________________________________________
Background.
After installing Microsoft DOS 6, you want to revert to your previous version
of DOS, but because Stacker was installed DOS 6 did not allow you to make
an uninstall disk.
Procedure.
Both Procedures require that you have a boot disk from the previous version
of DOS, with SYS.COM on it.
Case #1 You have not deleted the "OLD_DOS.1" directory.
1. Remove the "read-only" attributes on the DOS 6 COMMAND.COM, on both
the Stacker drive and Host drive, in both the root and DOS
directories.
2. Start the system with the previous DOS's startup disk.
3. From the Startup diskette re-sys the Host boot drive.
4. Edit the CONFIG.SYS on the host drive to disable SSWAP.
5. Restart the system from the hard drive. Change to the Stacker drive
and delete all files in the DOS subdirectory.
6. Change to the OLD_DOS.1 subdirectory and copy all files to the DOS
subdirectory.
7. Change to the Host drive and delete all files in the DOS subdirectory
and copy COMMAND.COM from the root of the Host drive to the root of
the Stacker drive.
8. Copy any files into the DOS subdirectory that are called from the
CONFIG.SYS.
9. Edit the CONFIG.SYS to renable SSWAP, and remove any DOS 6 memory
management region identifiers (/L:x,xxxxx)
